David Smith of Vancouver, BC is a keynote public speaker, professional freelance travel photographer, travel writer and Blogger published worldwide. Recent publications include the Wall Street Journal, National Geographic Traveler, Geo Saison Magazine and USA Today Travel Online. .
As a frequent independent traveler (50 years) and cruise ship guest lecturer (8 years) with Holland America Lines, Seabourn Cruise Lines and others he has travelled to over 100 countries on 6 continents. His presentations on digital and travel photography, world cultures, cruise ship ports of call and shore excursions worldwide are peppered with stunning images, captivating multimedia shows and travel stories known to inform, entertain and inspire his audiences.
He is a professional member of the American Photographic Artists/Editorial Photographers Association and past President of the North Shore Photographic Society of West Vancouver, B.C. where he and his wife Anna reside. Anna is also a published travel photographer and lectures and leads workshops on world exotic fabrics and textile arts.
Recent photography assignments have taken them to Barcelona, Buenos Aires and the South Pacific. A B. Sc. (Hon. Chemistry, 1969) graduate of the University of British Columbia David spent 30 years in the multinational corporate, small business and entrepreneurial worlds before following his lifelong passion for travel and photography. Ironically as soon as they took the chemistry out of photography with digital technologies he jumped in feet first as a self-taught early adopter when there were few books on the subject.
He has published a popular series of CD Digital Photography and DVD Travel Photography tutorials and conducts photo and camera workshops and classes at home between trips.
